so glad you're with us. tell us to the best of your knowledge what happened. i understand you got the call at 5:08 a.m., the plane landed at 6:00 a.m. >> correct. the airport contacted our fire station here with a heads up of about 48 minutes more or less to make us aware of the injuries on board. apparently we had 15 injuries, 26 total, 22 stable, multiple injuries, bumps and bruiseses to neck pain, back pain. four considered serious, not critical, they are treated as well. the airline will decide whether or not to leave the uninjured passengers on the aircraft and continue the flight or disembark the entire aircraft. so far we're treating 26 patients. >> we're looking at the emergency vehicles there on the scene. what was your response to the situation this morning. >> we prepare for these incidents by calling extra equipment. we're using the back boards for the back injuries to transfer patients who may have worse injuries upon examination in the er. we have multiple paramedics, on board assessing patients, treating patients, ascertaining what they need. >>

what have you got for us, poppy? >> worse than expected number when we look at the unemployment claims this week and what you need to know in every state you're eligible for those 26 weeks but then it changes, rick, when you look at the extension. it changes from about say 79 weeks in michigan where you have the highest unemployment in the country to 46 weeks in the state of utah. two extensions all depend on where you live. that's what you need to know. getting the final extension can be really tricky. that's what we found out. we talked to folks at the national employment law and they said the rules are crazy and they estimate that only half of the people that should get the unemployment benefits are actually receiving them. that's a big problem in this recession. one example, every week you've got to prove that you looked for work in three different places to qualify. how do you do that? you can do that online, you can do that over the phone, but if you have a claim that is a little different and needs some explai

carville, thanks for joining us. and your recollections of this man on the day that we're remembering bob novak? >> well, two things. he's a guy, a lot of people, like, trim their sails. he didn't. he knew exactly what bob thought. he really didn't much care about what other people thought. and he was fierce ly -- and the other thing about bob, him more than maybe ever knew, he was a real sports fan. and, i mean, he wasn't, like, a guy that read about it in the paper. we need to find out how many acc tournament games he saw in his life. i want to say he went to over 30 consecutive tournament games. he was passionate about maryland basketball more than anybody i ever knew. every redskin name, the wizards, the nats, the "os," anything that played, he went there. he was a really knowledgeable sports fan, too. but his, you know, he had a real kind of passion for politics. and he was a good reporter. i think anything that people don't know about bob, don't realize, he's a very ideology g guy and a very interested reporter

this is the fed signaling to us that the worst might be behind us. next step, talking to employers, it's a company that's an hr consulta consultant. this is what they're finding. are companies going to stop hiring freezes? are they going to stop being so defensive. 33% of surveyed employers are going to unfreeze the salaries in the next six months. 79% are going to unfreeze salaries in the next year. that's good news for people who have been sticking around for the past year and a half and haven't had a salary increase and 70% of the people who were surveyed said they plan to start hiring next year -- who have a freeze on hiring right now. i spoke with nine ceos yesterday -- fascinating. three of them said they are require right now. six are not. six are still in the defensive position and looking ahead with a great deal of caution. ceos, small, mid sized businesses still quite cautious. still with an eye to washington, still worried about political risks, taxes, and still worried about -- >> going to take a while to shake it all out. >> 4,136. it's
